The Três Marias Undergraduate Scholarship Grants are awarded to undergraduate students with a Major or Minor in Portuguese who have a record of outstanding scholarship, or undergraduates with an excellent academic record who are pursuing research or engagement in their areas of study with the Portuguese language and Luso-Afro-Brazilian Cultures. The Três Marias Scholarship Grants may be used to support research, publication, or continued study either at home or abroad in Portuguese and Lusophone cultures. Awardees are chosen through an application process in which they submit a personal statement that outlines how they meet the criteria of the grant and support the general mission of the Três Marias Research Chair. Award winners will be chosen by the Director of the Três Marias Research Chair and administrators of the Department of Spanish and Portuguese. Chosen applicants will receive from $500 - $1500, and up to two grants will be awarded each semester. Grant awardees will present on their experiences, continued studies, research, or other work supported by the grant, and are encourages to consider multimedia initiatives and components as part of their contributions to the Três Marias Research Chair
